June 21, 2008:

A "Summer Baroque" fundraising concert was held at UVic's Phillip T. Young Recital Hall.  Presented by the Continuum Consort, with members of Victoria's Festival Consort performed works by Handel, Bonporti, Monteverdi, and Buxtehude to raise funds specifically for MMC.  A night at the Coast Hotel in Vancouver, and a Continuum Consort CD were the two door prizes given to lucky audience members.

June 18, 2008:

MMC's Annual General Meeting took place at the Church of Truth in James Bay.  A packed house enjoyed catered refreshments, guest speaker Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond (BC's Representative for Children and Youth), several presentations to community supporters, and networking with representatives from local organizations.

May 4, 2008:

MMC's 10th annual Children's Art Auction was another great fundraising success.  Victoria artist and instructor Michelle Miller's students donated their works of art, which were then framed by local organizations and auctioned off at Cafe Brio.  Cafe owner Greg Hayes also generously donated proceeds to MMC.

April 23, 2008:

MMC hosted the 4th annual Evening of Good Taste fundraiser at the Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour Hotel.  Fine food and samplings of local beer, cider and wine, music of the Lindsay Barber Quartet, and entertaining live and silent auctions featuring sponsors from across Canada raised funds for the Centre.


March 19, 2008:

MMC was one of a number of Island sexual abuse intervention programs to get an increase in funding by the Ministry of Children and Family Development.  The increase of $160,000 in annual funding was essential in allowing MMC to avoid employee layoffs.

February 19, 2008:

Staff from MMC completed the "Stop the Cycle Tour", cycling from Port Hardy to Victoria.  MMC's Executive Director and two Therapists raised funds for the Centre, and awareness about sexualized violence against children and youth.
